Cette circulation est n\u00e9cessaire pour la r\u00e9gulation des temp\u00e9ratures autour de la plan\u00e8te. Cependant, des climatologues se montrent moins alarmistes.La circulation m\u00e9ridienne \u00e0 retournement atlantique (AMOC) va-t-elle s\u2019effondrer en 2025 ? Il s\u2019agit de l\u2019interaction des courants marins \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle de la plan\u00e8te. Dedans, il y a le Gulf Stream, un fort courant marin qui apporte de l\u2019eau chaude depuis le Golfe du Mexique vers l\u2019Atlantique nord. Son effondrement pourrait survenir entre 2025 et 2095, selon une \u00e9tude publi\u00e9e par deux chercheurs de l\u2019universit\u00e9 de Copenhague dans la revue Nature. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Comment fonctionnent les courants marins ? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L\u2019AMOC constitue \u201cune sorte de grand tapis roulant avec plusieurs branches qui assurent le m\u00e9lange des masses d\u2019eau depuis la surface vers la profondeur de l\u2019oc\u00e9an Atlantique et qui joue aussi un r\u00f4le dans le transport de chaleur entre les deux h\u00e9misph\u00e8res\u201d, r\u00e9sume Val\u00e9rie Masson-Delmotte, pal\u00e9oclimatologue (NDLR : sp\u00e9cialiste de l&rsquo;histoire du climat) et ancienne co-pr\u00e9sidente du groupe de travail n\u00b01 du GIEC, interrog\u00e9e par TV5MONDE. Ainsi, les eaux chaudes circulent vers le nord et s\u2019enfoncent sous les eaux de la r\u00e9gion. Cela lib\u00e8re de la chaleur dans l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re, ce qui permet de r\u00e9guler la temp\u00e9rature.
